Promethean Clinic has been cited by Canadian media as a credible clinical voice on aesthetic safety in BC.

Parveen Sangha, NP Featured in CBC News Investigative Report on Aesthetic Safety

On Oct 10, 2025, our medical director, Parveen Sangha was featured in a CBC article titled, “Court petition calls for ‘Injector Barbie’ to stop cosmetic procedures due to alleged deformations”.

Parveen was asked by the CBC to comment on the regulations of administering Botox and what complications may arise if the procedure is not performed correctly.

We appreciate the CBC for reaching out to us to highlight our clinic and services. We do not have any opinions on anyone’s specific services that are mentioned in the article written by Jackie McKay.

Article Excerpts

“If [Botox fillers are] injected incorrectly, it could go into an artery, which can cause a blockage and lead to tissue death, permanent blindness, infection and scarring in some of the worst scenarios. “

““They come with a lot of risks — scary risks,” said Sangha.”

“Unfortunately, we have seen patients here at the clinic to correct problems from unqualified injectors,” said Sangha.”

Our position on aesthetic safety in BC

British Columbia has limited formal regulation of who can perform cosmetic injectable procedures. Botox and dermal fillers are classified as prescription drugs under federal law. That means they can only be legally prescribed and administered by or under the direct supervision of a licensed prescriber. In practice, enforcement is inconsistent and the barriers to operating as an independent injector are low.

The result is a market where patients often cannot distinguish between a qualified medical provider and someone who completed a weekend training course. Both may use the same products. Both may have similar-looking websites. The difference becomes visible when something goes wrong.

At Promethean, every injectable treatment is performed by Parveen Sangha, NP, Dr. Sara Zeinoddini, Dina Wang, RN, or Natasha Errico. All treatments are performed under medical oversight. We prescribe our own products. We are accountable to the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia. We do not operate in a grey area because our patients should not have to wonder whether they are in one.
