THE CONCERN

When Your Skin Just Looks Flat

Dry, dull, tired looking skin is the thing we hear about most from people who are not ready for anything invasive. Nothing is wrong exactly. The skin has just gone flat, it feels a little rough by the afternoon, and it stopped bouncing back the way it used to.

Vancouver does not help. Months of damp outside and dry heated air indoors is a combination that pulls moisture out of skin, and it shows up first as dullness rather than as anything you would call a problem.

The hesitation that usually follows is about downtime. Most treatments that visibly change skin also take something out of your week, and plenty of people cannot give up a week or would rather not explain a red face at work. A CO2 therapy mask sits in that gap. It is topical, it is comfortable, and it is finished when you walk out.

THE TREATMENT

How the CO2 Therapy Mask Works

A gel and a mask are combined on the skin, and the controlled reaction between them releases carbon dioxide at the surface. That reaction is what the treatment is built around: it is intended to support circulation and oxygenation in the skin, which is where the fresh, faintly flushed look straight afterwards comes from. The mask we use is CO2LIFT, and you may also see this kind of treatment called a CO2 lift mask or a carboxy mask.

It takes about half an hour on the skin. It is cool and passive rather than active, there is no peeling and no flaking, and there is no recovery window. Makeup goes back on the same hour.

We would rather be plain about what it is. This is a hydration and radiance treatment, not a resurfacing or collagen treatment. The change is in how your skin looks and feels rather than in its structure, it is at its most obvious in the first day or two, and if what you actually want is a change in texture or laxity we will tell you that a mask is the wrong tool. Individual results vary.

HOW WE PRACTICE

The Promethean Standard, Applied

The same four disciplines govern every treatment we offer, including this one. This is what medically led means in practice.

  1. 01

    Assess

A medical assessment of your health history, your anatomy, and your goals, and an honest answer on whether this treatment is right for you at all.

You leave knowing what is realistic for you.

  2. 02

    Plan

A written plan for your treatment: dosing or settings, timing, cost, and what it will and will not change. Nothing added that does not serve the outcome.

You know exactly what to expect, and why.

  3. 03

    Treat

Conservative technique from our nurse practitioner led, physician supported medical team, in our purpose built clinic at 1111 West Georgia Street.

You look like yourself, rested and well.

  4. 04

    Care

Follow up to review your result, plus wellness and longevity support under one roof, over years rather than appointments.

A clinic that knows your whole picture.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE

What to Expect, and Who It Is For

What to Expect

  1. Consultation and skin check. A short assessment of your skin, what is actually bothering you, and an honest answer on whether a mask on its own is the right thing or whether something else would serve you better.
  2. The mask itself. Around thirty minutes with the mask in place. Most people describe it as cool and faintly tingling rather than active, and a fair number fall asleep in the chair.
  3. Straight afterwards. Skin usually looks brighter and feels plumper immediately. A mild flush is normal and settles quickly. There is no peeling, no flaking and no recovery window to plan around.
  4. On its own or as a finishing step. It can be booked as a standalone facial, or added at the end of dermaplaning, a chemical peel, microneedling or radiofrequency microneedling as part of an individualized post treatment plan.
  5. Keeping it going at home. The same mask is available as a professional skincare product, so you can use it between appointments if you want to. We will tell you honestly whether that is worth it for your skin.

Who It Is For, Honestly

Good candidates want hydration, radiance and a fresher looking complexion without giving up any downtime, or want a comfortable finishing step after another treatment. It suits skin that looks dry, dull or tired rather than skin with structural concerns.

  • We will tell you if a mask is not enough for what you described. If your real concern is sun damage, texture, scarring or laxity, this will not fix it, and we would rather point you at the treatment that would.
  • We do not treat over broken skin, an active skin infection, or an active cold sore in the area.
  • If you have had another treatment in the same area very recently, we will check the timing before adding anything on top of it.
  • We do not offer the CO2 therapy mask during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Tell us when you book, and see treatments during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

If it is not right for you, we will say so, and we will tell you what would serve you better, even when that is nothing at all.

COMMON QUESTIONS

CO2 Therapy Mask Questions, Answered

Straight answers, the same ones you would get in the treatment room.

What does a CO2 therapy mask cost in Vancouver?
It is priced per treatment, and the number changes depending on whether you are booking it on its own or adding it to another treatment on the same visit. You get a written quote at your consultation, before anything is booked. We do not sell packages, and nobody here earns commission on your plan.

Is there any downtime after a CO2 therapy mask?
No. That is the main reason people choose it. There is no peeling and no flaking, a mild flush settles quickly, and you can put makeup on and go straight back to work. We are at 1111 West Georgia, so most people book this one inside a lunch hour.

How long does it last, and how often can I have one?
The hydration and brightness are at their most obvious in the first day or two and then ease off, which is why people tend to book it before something rather than at random. It is gentle enough to repeat regularly. How often is worth discussing at your consultation rather than guessing, because it depends on what else you are having done. Individual results vary.

Can I add the CO2 mask to another treatment?
Yes, and that is how it is most often used here. It can be combined with dermaplaning for smoothness, or used as a soothing, hydrating step in an individualized plan after a chemical peel, microneedling or radiofrequency microneedling. Whether it is appropriate on the same day depends on what was done and how your skin responded, so it is decided in the room, not booked blind.

Does it hurt?
It should not. It is topical, nothing is injected and nothing breaks the skin. Most people report a cool, slightly fizzing or tingling sensation while it works. If it ever feels uncomfortable, say so and it comes off.

Is this the same as carboxytherapy injections?
No. Injectable carboxytherapy is a different procedure that puts carbon dioxide under the skin with a needle. This is a mask that sits on the surface. Nothing is injected, nothing breaks the skin, and it should not be compared to the injectable treatment on either results or risk.

Can I buy the mask to use at home?
Yes. The same CO2LIFT mask is sold as a professional skincare product for home use, which is an easy way to keep a hydrating step in your routine between appointments. It is not a substitute for a professional treatment, and we will not sell it to you if we do not think you need it.

Who should not have a CO2 therapy mask?
Anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding. Anyone with broken skin, an active skin infection or an active cold sore in the treatment area. Tell us when you book if any of that applies, and see our page on treatments during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
