How DiolazeXL works
The laser emits light at a wavelength specifically absorbed by melanin, the pigment in hair follicles. The light converts to heat inside the follicle, damaging it enough to prevent regrowth. The surrounding skin is protected by the sapphire cooling mechanism, which keeps the surface temperature controlled during the energy delivery.
Hair grows in three phases: anagen (active growth), catagen (transition), and telogen (resting). The laser is most effective during anagen, when the follicle is actively producing hair and melanin concentration is highest. Because not all follicles are in anagen at the same time, multiple sessions spaced through the growth cycle are needed to treat each follicle in its active phase.

Each area has its own session time and spacing protocol.
Underarm treatments take five to ten minutes and tend to show the fastest results because the hair in that area cycles relatively quickly. Full legs take significantly longer. Brazilian and bikini area treatments are performed privately by Natasha or Ashtin in our treatment rooms.
Skin types and safety
DiolazeXL is safe across a wide range of skin tones. The device has specific settings for different Fitzpatrick skin types, from the lightest (Type I) to the darkest (Type VI). For patients with olive or darker skin, a test patch before the first full session is standard practice.
Tanned skin increases the risk of surface burns because the laser is attracted to melanin in the skin as well as the hair. Patients with a recent tan are asked to wait until the tan fades before treatment. This applies to self-tanner as well.
