THE CONCERN

When Shaving and Waxing Feel Like a Full Time Job

Ongoing shaving, waxing, and ingrown hairs cost real time, and the results never last. It is a maintenance routine that many people would rather be free of entirely.

The hesitation we hear most is about the promise: painful sessions, marketing that calls a treatment permanent when it genuinely needs more sessions than advertised, or a laser recommended for skin tones it does not actually suit well. That worry is fair, and it is exactly why session counts and skin typing are discussed honestly upfront.

Using the Diolaze XL diode laser with a large spot size and integrated cooling, sessions are comfortable and efficient, with expectations set honestly before your first treatment.

Natasha was my laser hair removal specialist, and she was nothing short of amazing. She was very knowledgeable about the procedure, walking me through each step, which helped calm any nerves I had. Natasha’s professionalism and attention to detail made the session as comfortable as possible. She also keeps on checking up on me and on my pain tolerance level, which I really appreciated. The results have been fantastic, and I’m already looking forward to my next session with her!

THE TREATMENT

How Laser Hair Removal Works

The Diolaze XL diode laser targets pigment in the hair follicle, damaging its ability to regrow, while integrated contact cooling protects the surface of the skin throughout the session.

At Promethean, settings are calibrated to your skin tone, hair colour, and the area being treated. Laser hair removal works best on darker, coarser hair, and we will tell you honestly that it is genuinely limited on very light, blonde, or grey hair rather than promise results it cannot deliver.

A course of six to eight sessions spaced four to six weeks apart is typical, following the natural hair growth cycle, with occasional maintenance sessions afterward. Individual results vary, and we will tell you honestly what to expect for your hair and skin.

HOW WE PRACTICE

The Promethean Standard, Applied

The same four disciplines govern every treatment we offer, including this one. This is what medically led means in practice.

  1. 01

    Assess

A medical assessment of your health history, your anatomy, and your goals, and an honest answer on whether this treatment is right for you at all.

You leave knowing what is realistic for you.

  2. 02

    Plan

A written plan for your treatment: dosing or settings, timing, cost, and what it will and will not change. Nothing added that does not serve the outcome.

You know exactly what to expect, and why.

  3. 03

    Treat

Conservative technique from our nurse practitioner led, physician supported medical team, in our purpose built clinic at 1111 West Georgia Street.

You look like yourself, rested and well.

  4. 04

    Care

Follow up to review your result, plus wellness and longevity support under one roof, over years rather than appointments.

A clinic that knows your whole picture.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE

What to Expect, and Who It Is For

What to Expect

  1. Consultation and assessment. A review of your skin tone, hair colour and thickness, and area of interest, with an honest answer on how many sessions to expect.
  2. Preparation. The treatment area is shaved shortly before your appointment.
  3. The treatment. The large spot size of the Diolaze XL covers larger areas efficiently, with integrated cooling for comfort throughout.
  4. Right after. Mild warmth or redness in the treated area is common and settles quickly. Treated hairs shed naturally over one to two weeks.
  5. The series. Sessions are spaced to follow your natural hair growth cycle, so the full course matters more than any single treatment.

Who It Is For, Honestly

Good candidates have coarse, darker hair and are ready to commit to a full series rather than a single session. The Diolaze XL diode wavelength is suited to a wide range of skin tones.

  • We do not treat very light blonde, grey, or red hair, since the laser cannot reliably target it, and we will say so rather than book a series that will not work.
  • We do not treat over an active tan, or during pregnancy.
  • We will flag certain photosensitizing medications that may require a delay before treatment.
  • We do not treat during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Tell us when you book, and see treatments during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

If it is not right for you, we will say so, and we will tell you what would serve you better, even when that is nothing at all.

NATURAL RESULTS

Results That Still Look Like You

Natural results come from restraint: the lightest treatment that achieves the goal, and the discipline to stop there. Before anything is booked, we show you honestly what is achievable for your anatomy, and how results are likely to vary for you.

Beauty as a Spectrum is how we practice: every decade from the thirties onward, every skin tone, every style, held to the same standard. You, rested and well, never done. Individual results vary.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Laser Hair Removal Questions, Answered

Straight answers, the same ones you would get in the treatment room.

What does laser hair removal cost in Vancouver?
Laser hair removal is priced per area and by the number of sessions in your course, typically six to eight sessions. Cost depends on the areas you choose and your specific plan. You receive a written quote at your consultation, before anything is booked. We do not sell packages, and no one here earns commission on your plan.

Do you offer payment plans or financing for laser hair removal?
Your full cost is confirmed in writing at your consultation, and payment options are discussed with you at that time. We do not want you committing to a series before you have seen the real number in writing.

What happens at the laser hair removal consultation, and how long does it take?
Your consultation includes an honest review of your skin tone, hair colour, and hair thickness, since these determine how well the treatment will work for you. We give you a written plan and realistic session count. It takes about 30 to 45 minutes, and there is no obligation to book that day.

How do I know if laser hair removal is right for me?
Laser hair removal works best on coarse, darker hair across a wide range of skin tones. It does not reliably treat very light blonde, grey, or red hair, and we will tell you this honestly at consultation rather than book a series that will not work. If it is not the right fit, we will say so.

What is your rescheduling or cancellation policy for laser hair removal appointments?
We ask for as much notice as possible if you need to reschedule or cancel, ideally at least 24 hours. Exact terms are confirmed with you at booking. A recent tan can also affect timing, so tell us if that has changed before your appointment.

How many sessions will I need, and what is the downtime?
A course of six to eight sessions spaced four to six weeks apart is typical, following your natural hair growth cycle, with occasional maintenance afterward. Mild warmth or redness in the treated area settles quickly, and there is no meaningful downtime. Individual results vary, and we confirm your specific course at consultation.

Does laser hair removal work on every hair colour?
No, and this is worth knowing before you pay for a course. The laser targets pigment in the hair, so dark hair responds well and pale hair does not. White, grey and most red hair contain too little pigment for the laser to find, and no number of sessions changes that. Fine, fair hair responds poorly for the same reason. We will tell you honestly at the consultation if your hair is not a good target.
Why can I not wax, pluck or thread between sessions?
Because the laser needs the hair root to be there to work on. Waxing, plucking, threading and epilating all remove the root, so a session done after them has nothing to target and is wasted. Shaving is fine, and in fact expected, because it cuts the hair at the surface and leaves the root in place.
Does a tan matter?
Yes, a great deal. Tanned skin holds extra pigment, and the laser cannot fully distinguish pigment in your skin from pigment in the hair, which raises the risk of burns and pigment change. That includes fake tan and recent sunbed use. We will ask you to come untanned and to stay out of strong sun between sessions, and we would rather reschedule than treat skin that has just caught the sun.
What about photosensitising medication?
Some common medications, including certain antibiotics, acne treatments, diuretics and herbal products such as St Johns wort, make skin far more reactive to light. Isotretinoin matters even after you have stopped taking it. Bring a full list of what you take, prescription and otherwise, to your consultation, and tell us if anything changes mid course.
