A dullness that makeup cannot quite fix, crepey skin under the eyes, shadows and hollows that make you look tired. It is rarely one thing you did wrong, it is slowed renewal that comes with time.
The hesitation we hear is fair: is PRF just PRP with a new name and a higher price? It is not. PRF is drawn without the anticoagulant that PRP uses, spun more gently, and left to form a natural fibrin matrix, a scaffold that holds your platelets, white cells, and growth factors and releases them slowly over about a week rather than all at once.
Used well, PRF is a modest, entirely autologous tool: only your own blood, nothing synthetic added, reintroduced to support your body’s own repair mechanisms where they have slowed.

THE TREATMENT
How PRF Treatment Works
A small blood draw is spun in a centrifuge, but without the anticoagulant used for PRP and at a lower speed. This lets the blood form a soft fibrin clot, a natural scaffold that traps your platelets, white blood cells, and growth factors. There is nothing synthetic to add, because the matrix is made entirely from your own blood.
How the PRF is used depends on your concern. For skin texture and tone, it is reintroduced with fine microneedling. For under-eye shadows and crepey skin, it can be injected into the tear trough area, where its own volume and slow growth factor release help over time. We plan the route around your goal, not a one size fits all package.
Because the fibrin releases its growth factors slowly over roughly seven to ten days, PRF works gradually. Early change in glow and texture often shows within a couple of weeks, with collagen related improvement building over one to three months. A short course of two to three sessions is typical. Individual results vary.

What to Expect
- Consultation and assessment. A review of your concern, whether skin or under-eyes, and your health history, and an honest answer on whether PRF will meaningfully help.
- The blood draw. A small, standard blood draw, spun on site with no anticoagulant to form the fibrin matrix.
- The treatment. PRF delivered by microneedling for skin, or by injection for under-eyes, about 45 to 60 minutes, with topical numbing for comfort.
- Right after. Mild flushing or swelling for one to two days for skin, or minor puffiness and possible slight bruising at injection sites. Makeup can typically resume the next day.
- The course. Most concerns are planned as two to three sessions spaced about a month apart, then reviewed.
Who It Is For, Honestly
Good candidates are adults with early texture, tone, or under-eye concerns who want a gradual, natural feeling improvement and are comfortable with a short course of sessions rather than one visit.
- We do not treat active skin infections, certain blood or platelet disorders, or during pregnancy.
- We do not recommend PRF alone for concerns that genuinely need volume or a neurotoxin instead.
- We will decline a plan built on expecting surgical level change from a regenerative treatment.

- What does PRF cost in Vancouver?
- Pricing is quoted per session and per course at your consultation, in writing, before anything is booked, with no packages and no commission on your plan.
- What is the difference between PRF and PRP?
- Both use your own blood. PRP adds an anticoagulant and spins faster to make a liquid plasma that releases growth factors quickly. PRF uses no anticoagulant and a gentler spin, so the blood forms a fibrin scaffold that holds more of your platelets and white cells and releases growth factors slowly over about a week. In practice PRF is the more concentrated, longer acting, and fully natural of the two.
- Can PRF help dark circles or hollows under the eyes?
- For some people, yes. Injected into the under-eye area, PRF can improve skin quality and crepiness, gradually restore mild volume, and soften hollowing over a course of sessions. If your concern is genuinely volume loss that needs a filler, or pigment that needs a different approach, we will tell you honestly at your consultation.
- Can PRF be combined with other treatments?
- Yes. PRF pairs naturally with microneedling for the skin, and is often planned alongside a filler or a neurotoxin when your goals call for more than regeneration alone. We only combine treatments when each one earns its place in the plan.
- How many sessions will I need, and when will I see results?
