THE CONCERN
Biotin Is Sold as a Hair and Nail Fix. The Evidence Is Narrower Than the Marketing.
Biotin is the supplement aisle in one word. It fronts hair growth products, nail strengthening claims and skin routines, and it arrives in the clinic attached to expectations that were set by packaging rather than by research.
Here is the honest position. Biotin genuinely matters, and in people who are actually deficient, correcting it does improve hair and nail quality. True deficiency, however, is uncommon, because biotin is present across an ordinary diet and is also produced by gut bacteria. It shows up mostly in specific circumstances such as certain inherited enzyme conditions, long term use of some anticonvulsant medications, or prolonged use of raw egg whites.
In people who are not deficient, the evidence that extra biotin thickens hair or hardens nails is thin. We would rather say that on the page than after you have paid for it.
No urgency here.
If hair thinning is the real reason you are here, biotin is unlikely to be the answer, and we do not offer hair restoration.

Recently went for IV therapy after a bout of sickness. The clinic space is beautiful and Parveen was incredibly helpful. The treatment worked great too, I was feeling brand new the next day!
THE TREATMENT
What Biotin Does, and the Blood Test Warning That Matters
Biotin, vitamin B7, is a coenzyme for a small group of enzymes that handle fat and amino acid metabolism and glucose production. It supports the machinery that builds keratin, which is where the hair and nail association originates. The association is real; the leap from association to a guaranteed cosmetic result is not.
There is one practical point that matters more than any cosmetic claim, and most clinics never mention it. Biotin interferes with a wide range of laboratory blood tests. Many common immunoassays use a biotin based method, so high circulating biotin can push results in either direction depending on the test design.
That includes thyroid panels and troponin, the test used to assess heart attack. A distorted troponin result is a clinically serious matter. If you have had biotin, tell any clinician ordering blood work, and expect to be asked to pause it beforehand.
For that reason biotin is added on assessment and discussed rather than dropped in by default, and we will ask what testing you have coming up.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE
What to Expect, and Who It Is For
What to Expect
- Consultation and assessment. A review of your health history, medications and goals, including any blood work you are scheduled for, since that changes the timing.
- A written plan. The formulation, including whether biotin is part of it, confirmed in writing before your line goes in.
- The infusion. 30 to 60 minutes seated in our dedicated IV lounge, monitored throughout by your registered nurse.
- Right after. Most patients return to their day immediately. Mild bruising at the site can occur and settles within days.
- Before any blood test. Tell the clinician ordering it that you have had biotin, so the result is interpreted correctly or the test is rescheduled.
Who It Is For, Honestly
Biotin makes sense as part of a wider plan for people with a genuine reason to supplement it. It is a poor fit for someone expecting it to reverse hair loss on its own.
- Tell us about any upcoming blood work, particularly thyroid or cardiac testing, because biotin can distort those results.
- If hair thinning is your actual concern, it deserves a proper diagnosis rather than a supplement. We do not offer hair restoration and will refer you rather than sell you something adjacent.
- We do not treat during pregnancy without medical sign off.
We would rather send you away with an accurate expectation than a bag that was never going to deliver one.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Biotin Injection Questions, Answered
Straight answers, the same ones you would get in the treatment room.
- Does biotin actually grow hair?
- In people who are genuinely biotin deficient, correcting the deficiency does improve hair and nail quality. In people who are not deficient, and that is most people, the evidence that additional biotin thickens hair is weak. We will tell you that before you book rather than after.
- Why does biotin interfere with blood tests?
- Many common laboratory immunoassays use a biotin based binding method. High circulating biotin competes with that chemistry and can shift results in either direction depending on how the test is built. It is a well documented interference, not a rare quirk.
- Which blood tests are affected?
- Thyroid function panels are the most frequently affected, and troponin, the test used to assess a suspected heart attack, is the most clinically serious. Hormone assays can also be involved. Always tell the clinician ordering your blood work that you have had biotin.
- How long should I stop biotin before a blood test?
- That depends on the dose and on the specific assay your laboratory uses, so it is a question for whoever is ordering the test. What matters is that they know, because with that information they can either time the test appropriately or interpret the result correctly.
- Who is actually biotin deficient?
- It is uncommon, since biotin is widespread in a normal diet and is also produced by gut bacteria. It appears mainly with certain inherited enzyme disorders, with long term use of some anticonvulsant medications, and with prolonged consumption of raw egg white, which binds biotin and blocks its absorption.
- Who administers the infusion, and how long does it take?
- Your formulation is planned by our clinical team from your assessment, then administered by a registered nurse, under the clinical oversight of nurse practitioner Parveen Sangha, in our dedicated IV lounge. Most infusions run 30 to 60 minutes, seated and monitored throughout.
