AT A GLANCE
Vitamin IV Drips in Vancouver, at a Glance
IV therapy in Vancouver at Promethean Clinic starts with a medical assessment, not a drip menu. Your formulation is built from that assessment and given by a registered nurse in our dedicated IV lounge, on the 13th floor at 1111 West Georgia Street, under the clinical oversight of nurse practitioner Parveen Sangha, who developed the Promethean IV program.
- What it is. Fluids, vitamins, minerals and amino acids delivered straight into the bloodstream, for nutrients your gut absorbs poorly or when you need fluid faster than drinking allows.
- What goes in the bag. Patients most often ask for the Myers cocktail, and it is the formulation we build on most. Boosters such as B complex, vitamin B12, biotin, glutathione, L carnitine and MIC are added only where your assessment calls for them.
- Safety check. We ask about G6PD deficiency before high dose vitamin C or glutathione, because in people who have it those ingredients can trigger the breakdown of red blood cells.
- How long it takes. About 30 to 45 minutes for your consultation, then 30 to 60 minutes for the infusion, seated and monitored throughout.
- Afterwards. Most patients return to their day immediately. A small bruise where the line went in is the most common effect and settles within days.
- Cost. Pricing depends on your formulation. You receive an exact written quote before anything is booked, boosters are priced in writing beforehand and never offered at the chair, and there are no packages and no commission on your plan.
- Insurance. Elective IV therapy is not covered by MSP in British Columbia. Some extended health plans and health spending accounts help, so check with your insurer before you book.
- Who it is not for. Significant heart or kidney conditions, uncontrolled blood pressure and some medications change what is safe, and pregnancy or breastfeeding changes what we can include.
THE TREATMENT
How IV Therapy Works
IV, or intravenous, therapy delivers fluids, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system entirely. For nutrients that are poorly absorbed orally, or when you need rehydration faster than drinking can achieve, this route reaches full effect in the time it takes to sit and rest.
At Promethean, every IV formulation starts with a review of your health history and your actual goal, whether that is recovery, hydration, immune support, or ongoing wellness, and is built from there in our dedicated IV lounge under medical oversight. We do not run a fixed drip menu designed to upsell add-ons you do not need.
Most infusions run 30 to 60 minutes. Many patients notice improved energy and hydration within the same day, though individual results vary with the formulation and your baseline health.
Patients most often ask for the Myers cocktail by name, and it is the formulation we build on most. Where your assessment calls for it, boosters are added to your bag: high potency B complex injections, vitamin B12 injections, biotin injections, glutathione injections, L carnitine injections, and MIC injections, which combine methionine, inositol and choline. Boosters are chosen from your assessment and priced in writing beforehand, never offered at the chair. Higher dose NAD injections are also offered as a treatment in their own right.
BEFORE YOU DECIDE
What to Expect, and Who It Is For
What to Expect
- Consultation and assessment. A review of your health history, hydration status, and goals, and an honest answer on which formulation, if any, actually fits.
- A written plan. The exact formulation and cost, confirmed before your line goes in.
- The infusion. 30 to 60 minutes seated in our dedicated IV lounge, monitored throughout.
- Right after. Most patients return to their day immediately. Mild bruising at the site can occur and settles within days.
- Ongoing plan. Frequency is set to your goal, not a subscription default, and reviewed at each visit.
Who It Is For, Honestly
Good candidates are healthy adults seeking targeted hydration, recovery, or nutrient support as one part of a wider wellness plan, who understand an IV supplements good habits rather than replacing them.
- We do not treat certain cardiac, kidney, or fluid balance conditions without physician clearance.
- We do not treat during pregnancy without medical sign off.
- We will decline a formulation built on a health claim no IV can honestly deliver.
- Tell us when you book if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Every drip here is built for the individual, so it changes what we can safely include and there are ingredients we will decline outright.
If it is not right for you, we will say so, and we will tell you what would serve you better, even when that is nothing at all.

Recently went for IV therapy after a bout of sickness. The clinic space is beautiful and Parveen was incredibly helpful. The treatment worked great too, I was feeling brand new the next day!
COMMON QUESTIONS
IV Therapy Questions, Answered
Straight answers, the same ones you would get in the treatment room.
- What does IV therapy cost in Vancouver?
- Pricing depends on the formulation, since no two IV plans use the same combination of fluids, vitamins, and additions. You receive an exact written quote at your consultation, before anything is booked, with no packages and no commission on your plan.
- Do you offer payment plans or financing?
- The full cost of your IV plan is confirmed in writing at your consultation, before anything is booked. Payment options are discussed with you at that time, so there are no surprises on the day of your infusion.
- Is IV therapy covered by insurance in BC?
- Not by MSP. The Medical Services Plan of British Columbia treats IV therapy for wellness, energy, hydration or recovery as elective, so it is paid privately. Some extended health plans reimburse it when a specific type of registered practitioner delivers it, and a health spending account is often the most flexible route, so call your insurer before you book. Our guide to IV therapy insurance in BC lists the exact questions to ask.
- What happens at the consultation, and how long does it take?
- We review your health history, hydration status, and goals, then give you an honest answer on which formulation, if any, actually fits. Plan on roughly 30 to 45 minutes, and there is no obligation to book anything that day.
- How do I know if IV therapy is right for me?
- IV therapy suits healthy adults who want targeted hydration, recovery, or nutrient support as one part of a wider wellness plan, not a replacement for it. If your goals would be better served by changes to diet, sleep, or hydration habits alone, we will tell you that directly and recommend against an infusion.
- What is your rescheduling or cancellation policy?
- We ask for as much notice as possible if you need to reschedule or cancel, so we can offer your appointment time to another patient. Confirm the exact notice period and any fee with our team when you book, since it can vary by appointment type.
- Who formulates and administers the IV, and how long does a session take?
- Your formulation is planned by our clinical team based on your assessment, then administered by a registered nurse, under the clinical oversight of nurse practitioner Parveen Sangha, in our dedicated IV lounge. Most infusions run 30 to 60 minutes, seated and monitored throughout.
- Who should not have an IV drip?
- Anyone whose body cannot comfortably handle an extra volume of fluid, which mainly means significant heart or kidney conditions. Fluid that a healthy body clears easily is a genuine load on one that cannot. Pregnancy, uncontrolled blood pressure, and some medications also change what is appropriate. This is why a drip here starts with a medical assessment rather than a menu, and it is why we sometimes say no.
- Why do you ask about G6PD before certain ingredients?
- G6PD deficiency is an inherited enzyme condition, and in people who have it, high dose vitamin C and glutathione can trigger the breakdown of red blood cells. It is more common in people of Mediterranean, African, Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian ancestry, and many people who have it do not know. It is the reason these ingredients are not something to add casually to a drip on request.
- Is an IV really better than taking it orally?
- For most nutrients, in most healthy people, food and oral supplements are the sensible route and the honest answer. An IV bypasses the gut, so it delivers the full dose into circulation and can achieve blood levels that oral dosing cannot, which matters when absorption is genuinely impaired or when you are dehydrated and need fluid volume itself. It is not a substitute for eating well, sleeping, or seeing a doctor about a symptom that keeps returning.
- Do your IV drips include amino acids?
- Yes, where your assessment calls for them. Several of our boosters are built from amino acids: glutathione is three amino acids joined together, the methionine in MIC is an essential amino acid, and L carnitine is made in the body from the amino acids lysine and methionine. Like everything else in your bag, they are added only when they fit your goal, and priced in writing beforehand.
- Can IV therapy help with a hangover?
- It can help with the part that usually makes you feel worst, which is dehydration. Fluid and electrolytes go straight into circulation instead of relying on a stomach that is not cooperating. Your bag is still built from your assessment rather than a hangover menu. Alcohol increases the magnesium you lose in urine and can reduce how well you absorb B vitamins such as thiamine, and the Myers cocktail we build on most already carries magnesium, B vitamins and vitamin C, with a B complex or glutathione added only if your assessment calls for it. No drip clears alcohol faster or replaces sleep, and the research on vitamins for hangovers is thin, so we will not promise more than rehydration can deliver.
- What can go wrong during the drip itself?
- Almost always nothing more than a small bruise where the cannula went in. Less commonly, the cannula can slip out of the vein and fluid collects under the skin, which is uncomfortable and settles on its own, or the vein can become irritated and tender for a day or two. Some ingredients give a passing taste, warmth or flushing while they run, which is normal and is one reason we control the rate.
- Can an IV treat an infection or an illness?
- No, and we will not tell you otherwise. A drip can replace fluid and electrolytes when you are dehydrated, and it can be a comfortable way to top up nutrients while you recover. It does not treat the underlying infection, and it is not a reason to delay seeing a doctor. If you are getting worse, or you have a fever that will not settle, that is a medical appointment, not a drip.
