PROMETHEAN CLINIC, VANCOUVER
Lip Filler in Vancouver for Soft, Natural Shape

AT A GLANCE
Lip Augmentation in Vancouver, at a Glance
Lip filler at Promethean Clinic starts with a look at your whole face, not just your lips, and is placed conservatively in our treatment room at 1111 West Georgia Street. A subtle result can always be built on at your review. An overfilled one is much harder to walk back.
- What it is. A hyaluronic acid gel, a substance your skin already makes, placed in the lips to add volume, shape, definition or simply hydration. Because it is hyaluronic acid, it can be dissolved if a correction is ever needed.
- Who injects. Our aesthetic physician, Dr. Sara Zeinoddini, who trains and evaluates injectors for the Canadian Board of Aesthetic Medicine, or one of our registered nurse injectors, a team that includes Dina Wang, RN, a BC trainer for Teoxane fillers.
- How it is placed. In small increments, with a fine needle or a blunt cannula chosen for your anatomy, and built in stages rather than all at once.
- How long it takes. About 30 to 45 minutes to talk it through at your consultation, then 30 to 45 minutes in the chair, with numbing cream on first.
- Afterwards. Some swelling or a small bruise is expected and fades over one to two weeks, so judge the shape at your review, not the next morning. Skip hard workouts for 24 hours.
- How long it lasts. Around six to twelve months, because constant lip movement breaks filler down sooner than in quieter areas like the cheeks.
- Follow up. We see you again at two to three weeks, once the swelling has gone, and only add more if it would clearly improve the shape.
- Cost. Charged by the syringe, and how much you need depends on your lips and your goal. You get the exact figure in writing before any filler is placed. No packages, and nobody is paid commission on your plan.
- Who it is not for. Not during pregnancy or breastfeeding, not over an active cold sore or infection at the lips, and not with certain bleeding disorders unless a doctor has cleared you.
THE TREATMENT
How Lip Filler Works
Lip filler is a soft hyaluronic acid gel placed within the lips and along their border. Depending on your plan, it can restore volume that has thinned with age, define the outline, bring an upper and lower lip into better proportion, or add hydration with very little change in size.
At Promethean, lip filler is planned against your whole face, including your chin, your teeth and the way your mouth moves, rather than against a fashionable shape. We place it in small increments and in the right plane, and we do not top up filler that has not yet gone. Large volumes and repeated top ups are the main reasons lip filler migrates beyond the lip border, and restraint is the most reliable way to avoid it.
Results are visible straight away and settle over one to two weeks as the swelling goes down. Lip filler typically lasts six to twelve months, because movement breaks it down faster than deeper filler elsewhere, and if you are ever unhappy with it, or a correction is needed, hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Results differ from person to person, and we will be straight with you about what your lips can carry.
BEFORE YOU BOOK
Your Lip Filler Appointment, Step by Step
What to Expect
- Consultation. We look at your lips from the front and in profile, alongside your chin and your smile, ask what you want to change, and go through any lip filler you have had before. You get an honest answer on whether filler suits your goal.
- Your written plan. Where the filler goes, which product, roughly how much, and what it costs, all written down before a needle touches your lips.
- On the day. Numbing cream goes on first. The injecting itself takes around thirty to forty five minutes, in small amounts, checking the shape as we go.
- The first few days. Some swelling, tenderness or a small bruise is normal. Most people carry on with their day, and we ask you to skip hard workouts for 24 hours.
- Your review. Two to three weeks later, once the swelling has gone, we look at the settled shape together and only add more if it would clearly improve it.
Who It Is For, Honestly
Lip filler suits healthy adults who want more shape, a clearer outline, or softer and more hydrated lips that still look like their own, and who are happy to maintain the result over time rather than expecting it to be permanent.
- Not during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Not while a cold sore or any infection is active on or around the lips, and not with certain bleeding disorders unless your doctor clears it.
- Not when the size you have in mind would overpower the rest of your face.
If lip filler is not the right answer for you, we will tell you, and suggest what would suit you better, including doing nothing at all.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Lip Filler Questions, Answered
The questions people ask most before their first lip filler appointment.
- What does lip filler cost in Vancouver?
- Lip filler is charged by the syringe. How much you need depends on your starting shape, the change you want, and whether you are new to filler or maintaining an earlier result. You get a written quote at your consultation before you book anything. There are no lip filler packages, and nobody here is paid commission on your plan.
- How long does lip filler last?
- Usually six to twelve months. Talking, eating and smiling keep the lips moving, and that movement breaks filler down sooner than in quieter areas such as the cheeks. A fast metabolism, frequent intense exercise and the amount placed can all shorten or lengthen it. Our guide on how long dermal fillers last compares every area.
- Which lip filler brands do you use?
- Our injectables come from Galderma and Allergan, and every lip filler we place is a hyaluronic acid gel. The specific product is chosen for your lips at your consultation and named in your written plan before anything is injected.
- Does lip filler hurt?
- We put numbing cream on before we start, and the injecting takes thirty to forty five minutes. Lips are sensitive, so a little tenderness, swelling or bruising afterwards is normal, and it fades over one to two weeks.
- Will my lips look overfilled?
- Not if we can help it, and that is the point of how we work. We start small and build in stages, because adding a little more at your review is easy, while an overfilled lip is hard to walk back. If the size you have in mind would overpower your other features, we will say so.
- Can lip filler migrate?
- It can. Filler that drifts past the lip border, often seen as a puffy ridge above the upper lip, is the most common sign of lips that have been overdone. The usual causes are too much product at once, fresh filler added on top of filler that has not yet broken down, and product placed at the wrong depth, so we keep amounts small and leave time between treatments.
- Can lip filler be dissolved?
- Yes. Because it is hyaluronic acid, lip filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, completely or in just one area, if you are unhappy with it, if it has migrated, or if a correction is needed. Most people see a visible reduction within 24 to 48 hours.
- What is the serious risk with lip filler?
- The risk that matters is a blocked blood vessel, called a vascular occlusion, where filler presses on or enters a vessel and cuts off blood flow. It is rare, and it is why lip filler should only be done by a trained medical injector. The signs show up straight away: skin that turns pale, patchy or greyish, and pain far stronger than the injection itself. We treat it urgently with hyaluronidase, which we keep in the clinic.
- What should I tell you before lip filler?
- Tell us if you get cold sores, because work around the mouth can set one off and we can help prevent that. Mention blood thinners, aspirin, ibuprofen or fish oil, since they make bruising more likely, plus any autoimmune condition, recent dental treatment, and every filler you have had before, even years ago somewhere else.
- Who performs lip filler at Promethean Clinic?
- Lip filler at Promethean is done by our aesthetic physician or one of our registered nurse injectors, with care led by our nurse practitioner and supported by physicians, at our clinic on the 13th floor at 1111 West Georgia Street.
